Based in London, this 10-week group Mandarin Chinese course for total beginners is designed for you to learn the basics of Mandarin Chinese, and practice your conversation skills among a dynamic group of peers. After the 10-week survival training, you will be proficient at common human-interactions and simple conversations, in Chinese. Tutor and lecturer, Olive Yanli Hou, has successfully delivered Mandarin courses to professionals for Louis Vuitton UK, Facebook UK and Deloitte UK. What you will learn:
  • Use Putonghua to ask and respond to simple questions about personal details
  • Form sentences about a variety of everyday situations
  • Pronounce words properly using the 4 tones
  • Write useful words and phrases with Pinyin, and simplified Chinese characters
  • Recognise up to 100 Chinese characters and read simple sentences

The Lecturer:

With valuable experience in the Chinese business media, Olive Yanli Hou is knowledgeable of Chinese markets in the global context, with a special interest in cross-cultural management. Olive was a freelance Mandarin Chinese Lecturer at Morley College, and the Chinese Independent School of Tower Hamlets. She holds an MA in Management in the Creative Industries, from the University of St. Andrews, as well as an MA in Chinese Modern and Contemporary Literature, from Shang Dong University, China.
